Typo #3

Seriously? The Commercial Appeal spelling "winners" incorrectly? That's just... Oh, never mind!
(This one's not as funny as the other ones, just a little surprising. Well GM feels society already has collapsed, based on our use of language... )

Somewhat Link Day- Winter Break 2012

Here are the links to all the other Link Day posts in case you're bored or just want something to look at or something...

Pirouline Packaging

My dad recently got a little tin of Pirouline cookies from some Secret Santa thing.

Yeah these things.

Anyway, as I ate one, I read the stuff on the packaging. (I read the packaging of just about everything I eat. The reason? I don't know... Maybe to check for funny typos or make sure the food isn't 90% genetically engineered or something?)

The first thing I noticed was the stuff written around the lid.
Now, I didn't notice any weirdness the first time I read it, but later, I was shocked by the sentence's technical "unclarity."
"Enjoy as a snack with coffee, tea, ice cream, after dinner drinks, family and friends."
See how the first four things listed and highlighted blue are food items? The other ones, in red, are probably humans, or at least living things.

If we omit the red part, we get "Enjoy as a snack with coffee, tea, ice cream, after dinner drinks." which means to eat them simultaneously or one after the other. For example, if I do as the lid suggests, I might take a bite of the Pirouline and then sip some tea, or I might put it on my ice cream and eat the ice cream and Pirouline at roughly the same time.
If we omit the blue part, we get "Enjoy as a snack with family and friends." which means, hopefully, to eat the Piroulines in the company of your family and friends.

You can't eat your friends and family or eat Piroulines in the company of a lot of food without looking insane. What a dilemma!

Second of all, there's a little icon on the side/back. There's a recycling symbol accompanied by the words "IT'S A CYLINDRICAL WORLD PLEASE RECYCLE." In case you didn't know, the world, at least the earth, is rather spherical. I'm thinking maybe since they call their Piroulines "cylindrical artisan rolled wafers" or something like that, they wanted to incorporate this idea into the "please recycle" statement.

Well, I'm off to eat another cylindrical artisan rolled wafer sealed with their signature swirl. I will let you guys know if I discover anything else interesting on the packaging.
(Any other interesting packaging tales are welcome down there in the comments.)

Knex House

What now? You now live it in?
He/she/it probably meant live "in it" which is still an interesting statement...

Should Alec Be An Author?

Alec hasn't posted anything for a long time.
This goes against the Why Not? authorship requirement of posting often.
So, should Alec be removed from the Why Not team?
RF and I liked Alec's posts because he was so narcissistic and arrogant. That made the post funny.

But, Alec is very lazy. 90% of the time I am on the Internet, Alec is on too. However, he doesn't bother to post at all during that time.

Should Alec be an author? What do you think?

Also, I would have told you who won the Authorship contest, but N hacked into Wendy's account and locked everyone but himself out of it. Therefore, I could not read the contest entries, so if you want to be a part of the Why Not? team make sure N changes the password back.

Daisy vs Boo

To take a break from studying for exams, I decided to post animal pictures...

This is Daisy, proclaimed "cutest kitten in the world."

( Source: http://www.walltowatch.com/view/10258/The+Cutest+Kitten+in+the+World)

This is Boo, called "cutest dog in the world."

Who do you think is cuter or uglier or weirder or whatever comparative adjective you prefer?

Because I Want To!

A post in which I disagree with some random stuff ... because I want to!

Or sleeping... Or dead... Most likely dead because, fun fact, to my knowledge, girls make breathing noises as they sleep.

More?

Why???? ( A short post that is not a Short Post)

Look what I found.

WHY DO PEOPLE FEEL SO COMPELLED TO SPELL THINGS INCORRECTLY? ESPECIALLY WHEN THE INCORRECT SPELLING IS MUCH HARDER TO REMEMBER AND/OR TYPE!
(ALSO THIS ONE COMPLETELY HUMILIATES RELIGIOUS PEOPLE IN MY OPINION...)

Short Posts #2

One day, when I was at school, my classmates were talking about Doritos. I said in reply to something (I think it was "Everyone likes Doritos.") "I don't like Doritos."  My classmates looked at me as if I were insane.

Whenever I bring up the fact that I do not like Doritos, my classmates all seem extremely shocked.
This is a mystery to me because obviously there are people who don't like Doritos.

Short Post #1

Because Lily requested it, I will write about band.

Concert band percussion players suck. They like stealing my stuff, messing with it, and wasting the time the band could have spent practicing. So don't give them anything good. They don't deserve it.

Short Posts Introduction

This is GM. I am starting a new series. It will be a lot of short posts since you are too lazy to read long ones.

Leave of Absence

I will be taking a temporary leave of absence from Why Not 2000.
I need to focus more on getting 100’s rather than writing posts that no one reads.

Reply to Statistics and Stuff I've Noticed- Part 1

After reading N's post quite a while ago, I thought, "What do our viewers really want to see?"
Currently we have these weekly-ish posts...

Musical Monday
Voki Wednesday
Ask Wendy
Technology These Days

In addition, we have posts about

TTD posts get nearly no comments.
The Number Series which have been put on hiatus partly because they weren't that popular.
Voki Wednesdays have varying stats.
Musical Mondays used to be very popular when I took the time and effort to do the ones you've actually heard of with pictures and lyrics. Hmmm...
Ask Wendy has been rather popular as people struggle to figure out Wendy's identity, but that has died out.

Here are a few ideas we've had for weekly posts...

Furry Fridays by GM (You'll have to ask GM about those...)
Sucky Saturdays by Alec if he ever returns
or just random posts, nothing weekly if you really want it that way

What do you really want to see? Is there any topic we should write about? Anything we should get rid of? Anything to add?
---

Now, what I've noticed...
Well, first of all, our readers do not usually comment unless our posts end with a question that can be answered in a word or two. For example, GM's recent post was asking "Who answered?" got 5 relevant comments whereas my Musical Mondays 8 asked for a summary of the lyrics and got 0 comments. Speaking of comments, so many comments have been about wanting to become an author or Wendy's identity. The majority of the other comments are from contributors of this blog.
Also, our readers seem inclined to posts with less words. Let's take a look at our top viewed posts...

Voki Wednesdays 1.5: Has no words
Wendy-ask wendy: 21 words
Feedback!: A whole freaking paragraph!!!!
Musical Mondays 1: Although it included several words, each prase was pretty much followed by a picture. Plus, it was the first in a series.
No contest participants?: This is definitely an outlier. What made it popular is that it gave the requirements for the coveted position of blog author.
Maybe we should write shorter posts? Darn it, this one is already too long, isn't it...
--

Summary-
Our viewers are not as responsive as I'd first predicted. They also mostly prefer short posts and therefore probably stopped reading this back at the first sentence.

N- technology these days rule
people should read it
i mostly just rant but seriously just read it and take my advice
APPLE IS STUPID!!!!

RF- I read them! I even write them! Besides...
"Good advice is always certain to be ignored, but that's no reason not to give it." -Agatha Christie

Congratulations!

First place in the school spelling bee! Fantastically done, GM! Here's some stuff a video and two pictures for you and everyone else who takes the time to read the blog, I suppose.

(Oh, and N, this is my congratulatory post.)
